Solution of Interface Problems for The Linearised Benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation: The Line and Star- Shaped Network

This research project aims to present the solution of interface problems for the Linearised Benjamin-Bona-Mahony Equation (LBBM) first on a line, and second on a large star-shaped network. Results for wellposedness will also be presented. This solution will allow for better computation and analysis of both LBBM and the non-linear BBM applied to networks.

The University of Newcastle

Samuel Walsh is a capable and engaged student from beachside Newcastle who has completed three years of his Bachelor of Mathematics and Data Science double degree at the University of Newcastle. His academic interests include mathematical modelling and the study of partial differential equations, particularly wave equations. He is passionate about all things data science and mathematics.

Professionally, Samuel works across media, consulting, and data analysis for international clients. In his spare time he enjoys identifying problems and applying analytical methods and programming to find solutions. As a self-driven learner he is currently at HSK Level 4 in Mandarin Chinese and seeks to engage with research that bridges mathematical modelling, data science and interdisciplinary applications. When not engaged in study or work he is finding and photographing birds or travelling.

He plans to further pursue mathematical research and problem solving in his postgraduate studies.
